Liberal Democrat-run Somerset Council is considering a council tax increase of up to 11% for the next financial year.
Last year, Somerset Council raised Council Tax by 7.5% after they sought permission from Government to increase bills above the standard 4.99% limit. The council is now again asking Government for special approval to raise council tax above this cap.
Critics have questioned the council’s financial management, pointing to big spending on agency staff and consultants, loss making asset sales, and major projects that have failed to deliver value for money.
This short survey asks how much you would be willing to pay in additional council tax. Your views will help inform the debate about council tax levels and local spending decisions in Somerset.
